Test driving screen shots
So I just had someone show me how to do screen shots!! I think this could be a big day in the life of Elliott. Another realization I had, I am not the best at expounding on knowledge that is floating around in my head. I am however pretty good at answering questions. So if anyone is reading this thing, which I know not many are here yet, please ask and I will gladly answer questions, post screen shots of how to do it, and the occasional video as well! Like I said, I just discovered the whole screen shot thing, so I decided to show you how I have Live set up for my Sunday service coming up this week. The first picture is of the Clip view, which is where I fire off the loops and songs for the morning.
The second is the Arrange view, which works more like a traditional sequencer. I am using this for a special tune we are doing this week that has a couple of extra tracks.
You can toggle between the two views by hitting Tab. Again, I know that this may not be super informative yet, but I am just getting started!! Stay tuned for more screen shots, and look for upcoming videos!

screen shots are amazing… you can also select what section you want to take a screen shot by holding down APPLE+SHIFT+4, then just select what area you want to shoot and boo-yaa!

okay, here’s a question!
Is there a way to pan the click left or right without having to buy an interface for three outputs?? I know with the interface it goes 1&2-L/R loop, 3-click I want it where Left is click and Right is loop, or the other way around. (Right-click, left-loop)

I just upgraded to Live 7, best buy for my money, you can now change time signatures in the scenes!!!!!! I am glad the following was written, I had a complete brain block and forgot about being able to route the click where you want it.
I talked to Brandon Coker last Sunday evening(Steve Fee’s drummer). He has some Roland Firewire interface that lets him do it. So I know there’s a way, but its over my head. Yea being able to split time sigs. up is awesome.

HEY! I got it!!
Okay you gotta go to Pref’s then output config.
Then click stereo.
Now go to view and click in/out
On the master set the click to L/R. 2=Right 1=Left
Then select 1 or two for the loop.
Who woulda thought that if ya sit for five minutes and try you might get it??? lol, I’m so lazy.
Now live 7 for individual time sigs!!

caleb, can you expand on the click / master/ in-out setup? maybe one of elliots nifty screen shots would help! right now i am sending a right side to my sound guys and keeping the left for the click. but that misses some cool phasing sounds in some of my loops and stereo samples.

Reece,
The only way you can route a stereo left and right channel along with a click channel is to have some kind of interface connected to your computer that has more than 2 outputs. So if you are just using your stereo outs from the headphone jack of your computer, this can’t happen. But if you do have some kind of interface, like an mbox pro, digi 002, or about 30 others that have more than 2 outputs on the box, you can route them however you would like. For example, I use the MOTU Traveler (http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/traveler/) . It has 8 inputs for recording, as well as 8 outputs for playback. So it provides me with plenty of possibilities for playback. Live will recognize the hardware, provided you have the correct drivers installed, and determine how many outputs the piece has available to it, and then you can set up the routing possibilities. I always use channels 1 and 2 as stereo left/right, then 3 for click. Any other additional tracks that I use, I usually pair 5/6, then 7/8. Hope that helps to some degree……
