Best Concert I have ever Experienced….
So this past Sunday night my wife and some friends of ours went to see James Taylor at the Chastain Park Amphitheater. All I knew was that is was James, and it was on my wife’s list of things to do before she died, so we went. This amphitheater is one where we actually sat at a table and brought our dinner and candles and what not. It’s a pretty classy place, and not to mention it was perfect weather outside. So we sere there an hour early to set up and eat, and I started looking at the stage. The set design was kind of like an art deco big band kinda thing, but as I looked closer, it had all of the band members names n their spots. So I decided to get a closer look. Then i started freaking out– it was the best band ever assembled on planet earth. My drumming hero–STEVE GADD was playing, and percussion legend Luis Conte, as well as Jimmy Johnson on bass, Micheal Landeau on guitar, Blu Lou, Mike Fowler, and his legendary line of BGV’s. Man, I freaked out. So he played from 8 until 10:15, and it blew me away. Of course his songs are impeccable, but the musicianship was overwhelming. Not a note was out of place, or not perfectly thought through. It was the ultimate in tasty playing. And absolutely fantastic show, and a musicians treat to listen to. Please treat yourself to this modern music masterpiece. Click here to see if they are coming to your town.

I am a drummer, too, and Steve Gadd is one of my favorites. I used to love all the chop guys (Vinnie, Weckl, etc.) but I am obsessed with the groove masters now. Gadd, Steve Jordan, JJ Johnson, ?uestlove.
Glad you enjoyed the show!
OH my Gadd… now that’s what i call a rhythm section! unfortunately, they’re not coming to austin.
when you don’t have carlos, steve gadd is not too shabby.
I wish I could have gone to that. Why didn’t you call and let me know you were going?
